Sheena
Sheena Dignam; a Franco-Irish food and wine lover who is originally from Wicklow but grew up in the Loire valley, where she studied Culinary Arts & Wine. Having spent over 15 years in the food industry, her passion has led her to launch Galway Food Tours.
“For me, what makes Galway so special is the local producers, and the best thing about the market is the diversity from cheese to sushi, oysters to curry stews, doughnuts to falafels. But especially it’s such a great atmosphere! The traders are such great craic and are hugely talented.”
On her tours, Sheena shares her love for good food as well as insider tips.
Claire
Grew up in her family run bar in Co. Kilkenny so the hospitality industry is somewhat in her blood. Having spent a lot of her youth visiting Galway where her Granny hailed from, she moved there over 12 years ago and is never leaving! Her love of walking, swimming, and the outdoors, in addition to the culinary and arts scene fit perfectly with everything that is so special about Galway. On tour, she loves sharing the insights into Galway’s food and cultural landscape, always with a smile and having the craic! When she is not guiding a Galway Food Tour, Claire loves to travel and experience other cultures but believes there is no comparison to the wonderful produce we have on our doorstep.
Anaïs
Originally from France, she settled in Galway a few years ago, after spending 10 years in Germany working as a tour guide. Her wanderlust brought her to Ireland, where she's enjoyed the stunning landscapes, friendliness of people, Irish culture, and amazing Irish gastronomy ever since. Her passion for cheese and beer as well as her good humour are contagious! "What I love most about my job as a tour guide is the contact with people. I love to share my passion, speak foreign languages, and learn more about other countries through visitors. Galway is such a vibrant city; I hope for everyone to enjoy it as much as I do!"
Regina
Native of Galway, has always had a keen interest in food, in 2015 she attended Ballymaloe cookery school, fulfilling a lifelong dream. From there she headed to the UK, where she lived for five years working in a variety of culinary roles, as well as leading her own cooking classes. On her return to Ireland, Gina took up her role with Galway Food Tours, combining her passion of food and her local city. “What I love most about Galway is the variety of local artisan producers and independent food businesses, their passion is contagious, I am always so proud to introduce them on our tours!"
Michelle
Michelle is a Galwegian through and through!
She is a lover of history and archaeology having studied it at the University of Galway alongside working in the hospitality industry for over 11 years.
Michelle is hugely passionate about the culinary world and how it connects family run businesses with the local communities.
She is always involved in local events and the associations that people can form through food and travel.
